Windmills and Backflips Made Easy: ROBROS Unveils IGRIS-C Humanoid

ROBROS, a full-stack AI humanoid robotics company, announced on July 30 that it has become the first company in South Korea to demonstrate advanced dynamic whole-body motion with a bipedal humanoid robot.

In a demonstration video, ROBROS showcased a series of highly dynamic movements, including windmills, backflips, and kicks, that require precise control of the robot’s center of mass and coordinated control of its entire body. Dynamic whole-body motion is a foundational technology that enables humanoid robots to move and perform tasks simultaneously while maintaining balance in highly dynamic situations.

The demonstration featured IGRIS-C, ROBROS’ proprietary humanoid platform. Standing 154 centimeters tall and weighing 56 kilograms, IGRIS-C was developed entirely with ROBROS’ in-house technologies, from hardware design and control algorithms to AI software.

With its dual-arm manipulation capabilities, IGRIS-C has been supplied to leading universities, including Kwangwoon University, Kyung Hee University, and Sogang University, for education and research. The robot is also undergoing proof-of-concept trials at industrial sites facing labor shortages, including logistics operations such as those of Lotte Global Logistics and shipyards.
