ROBROS Raises 1.6 Billion Won Seed Investment With Stick Ventures and Others

Service robot company ROBROS said on the 21st that it raised 1.6 billion won in a seed round.

This is ROBROS' first institutional investment. Stick Ventures, Primer Saje, and GS Retail participated.

A ROBROS official said the team's accumulated research achievements, a business model aimed at global expansion, and a team with diverse knowledge and field experience were evaluated as strengths.

ROBROS is a service robot startup founded by CEO Roh Seungjun, who has successful startup experience in the US. CTO Park Hyunjoon has won more than 10 awards including Presidential Prizes at robotics competitions.

CDO Kim Jinyoung earned a master's at the Royal College of Art in the UK and taught at Kyung Hee University for 10 years. She is a UX design expert with project experience at Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.

The robot ROBROS is developing is a safe robot specialized for service fields. The company plans to develop service robots that are safe and efficient enough to collaborate with people.

ROBROS says it has torque control technology that ensures safety in collisions, reinforcement learning based robot simulation technology, and hand control technology that can grasp irregular objects.

ROBROS opened its own testbed F&B store Better Than Yours in Seongsu-dong this year, based on its R&D and commercialization experience.

Better Than Yours offers personalized drinks. A mobile app for creating new recipes is scheduled to launch in August.

ROBROS plans to accelerate future-oriented safe service robot technology and expand product lines beyond F&B into home care and medical services.

Nam Changmo of Stick Ventures said he decided to invest after seeing ROBROS' strong team and field-based R&D, and expects the company to meet unmet demand across fields starting with F&B.

CEO Noh said the company's know-how in analyzing service needs and developing and commercializing robots for real-world use will help the industry, and he hopes ROBROS service robots will provide better services than people and change the service industry paradigm.
