'Humanoid Upper and Lower Body Movements Replicated Exactly'... ROBROS Unveils Full-Body Teleoperation

ROBROS, an artificial intelligence (AI) humanoid specialist company, recently released footage of real-time full-body teleoperation of IGRIS-C, the bipedal walking humanoid it developed in-house.

According to ROBROS on the 22nd, the company, which had previously implemented human motions in real time primarily with the upper body, has expanded its control range to the lower body. Through this, ROBROS has advanced its technology so that an operator's movements are transmitted to the robot's entire body, enabling integrated control of walking, posture, balance, and upper- and lower-body motions.

In the released footage, IGRIS-C moved its upper and lower body simultaneously in accordance with the operator's movements, and interacted with its surrounding environment and objects, such as striking a punching bag.

The key to this technology is that an operator can directly assess the surrounding situation while exercising integrated, real-time control over the humanoid's tasks. In particular, it can handle situations that combine locomotion and work, such as moving the robot and changing its posture while manipulating objects with both arms.

ROBROS plans to secure training data through this technology to expand the humanoid's range of tasks and performance capabilities.

A ROBROS official said, "In that a human can assess a situation and connect the robot's locomotion and manipulation in real time, this is an important technology for applying humanoids to industrial sites where it is difficult to define every situation in advance," adding, "We will continue to advance our full-body teleoperation technology so that it can perform the diverse tasks required at industrial sites."
